They are so isolated that to fill up their cars with petrol they have to travel 70km each way to the nearest large town with petrol tanks. They have one communal refrigerator in town and the town water are barely suitable for drinking. They kids have serious hygeine problems and washing their face several times a day is one way of overcoming the trachoma problem and other skin deseases that are caused by the flies, that infest these areas by the millions. The flies are attracted to the mocus that accumulates around their eyes. The community leaders were the ones to approach the government and suggest the scheme with the fuel. IT WAS NOT THE GOVERNMENT INITIATIVE!!! This is actually a win-win cooperation between govenment and community. By the way... I am not working for the government. I am in IT.
