ארבעים עונות אחרי ששר במטרופוליטן אופרה את תפקידו של מאוריציו באופרה "אדריאנה לקוברר" מאת פרנצ'סקו צ'ילאה, חוזר זמר האופרה פלאסידו דומינגו לאותו תפקיד ממש.

Originally scheduled to conduct the revival, which opens Feb. 6, Domingo will take over the starring tenor role, the company said Wednesday.

He replaces

Marcelo Alvarez, who took over from Salvatore Licitra as Manrico in the Met's new production of Verdi's "Il Trovatore," which opens Feb. 16. Domingo, who turns 67 in January, is scheduled to sing six performances.

Domingo replaced an ill Franco Corelli on Sept. 28, 1968, making his Met debut in "Adriana" opposite Renata Tebaldi. This time, Maria Guleghina sings the title role.
